Ryszard Litwiniuk is an internationally recognized sculptor who works primarily in wood. Born in Poland, Litwiniuk has resided in Ontario since 1998. His signature sculpting style, characterized by dynamic geometrical shapes, has been honoured with several solo exhibitions and awards in Canada and internationally.
During his residency at the McMichael Gallery, Ryszard Litwiniuk produced sculptures made from recyled ash and pine planks for display on the McMichael grounds. His sculptures have been shown in exhibitions and international symposiums in France, Germany, Ukraine, Denmark, Poland, Sweden, Italy, Argentina, Spain, Canada and the U.S.A.. He has received a number of awards including a fellowship award from the Vermont Studio Centre in 1999, a grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Inc. in New York in 1994, and Special Prize from the Fondo National de las Artes in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2000.
