Margaret Squire's work is characterised by bright colours and bold brush strokes. Ground Cover III is a floral image with abstracted bursts of colour. The surface of the work is layered and robust, mimicking the natural texture and surface of its subject matter.

She was the president of the Canadian Society of Painters in Water Colour from 1995 -97, and an elected member of the Colour and Form Society in 1985.
